And with that, a week had passed in the blink of an eye. Audrey wouldn’t even have noticed if it wasn’t for a loud knock on her door early in the morning. She groaned as she sat up, seeing Agni doing the same, confusion written across his face. He was usually the one to wake her up, but it wasn’t nearly time for her class yet.

Audrey groaned as she swung out of bed, her body clad in a tight nightgown. She had found it in a linen closet, but it was clearly made for a smaller woman. But she needed to sleep in something while she had her uniform washed. It was still a strange feeling to have someone else doing her laundry, but she was glad not to have to worry about it.

She opened her door to see Taron standing there, holding a leather case. “Good morning, Audrey, I just came by to remind you that today is Tyr’s Trial Ceremony,” he said with a small smile on his face. “I’m throwing a celebratory breakfast outside in his honor.”

Audrey blinked a few times, before rubbing the bleariness from her eyes so she could check the clock on her desk. “This early?” she asked.

“Well, it’s not quite finished being set up. But the breakfast will be ready by the time classes generally start,” he explained. “So… you’ll come?”

“It sounds like my students will be at the breakfast anyways,” she said, raising an eyebrow. “I just need to get my clothes and I’ll be right out to help in any way I can.”

“Actually, I wasn’t here to ask for help, I came to deliver this,” he said, holding out the leather case.

Audrey accepted the case before turning and setting it on her bed. She popped the clasps before opening it to reveal an outfit within. It looked similar to her uniform, but it was brand new and updated. Once she realized what it was, she whipped around to Taron with wide eyes.

“I… I don’t know what to say,” she said. She had been complaining about her torn, outdated uniform for days now, but Taron had always ignored her.

“Well, perhaps I should start with saying thank you,” Taron chuckled. “You’ve been a huge help this past week, and you’ve practically mastered what I’ve had to teach you. In addition to the uniform, I’m also officially releasing you from your duties.”

“T-Taron?” Audrey asked as she held up the top piece of her new uniform. It had a built-in, leather armored bustier that would give her added protection on top of her magic resistance.

“Instructor Marton is now ready to resume teaching, I can’t keep him waiting any longer. I don’t need a training dummy for Tyr any more, and I have nothing else to teach you,” he said. “Of course, you’ll still have access to the library, but you’ll have to learn new spells and perfect your technique yourself.”

It was a bittersweet moment for the redhead. At the beginning of the week, she would have given anything for this moment… but now she wished she could just stay here and keep working for Taron. She understood better how so many Mages chose to stay in one place and do nothing but teach, even if it wasn’t at the Capital. But she couldn’t stay here, at least not much longer.

“You can keep your room and stay as long as you like… but I recall you saying you were heading to Arkosh’s Heart some time soon,” he chuckled, sensing her hesitation.

“Yes, of course,” Audrey nodded, looking back at Agni to see him nodding along. Time had flown for him too, and he was almost at the point of telling her that they needed to leave with or without Cindy.

“Now give that new uniform a try. I made sure it was modified for you,” he smirked, giving her a little wink, before shutting the door and leaving her with her thoughts.

She just snorted, not sure what he meant by modified, but she began pulling out the full uniform from the trunk. She sent a quick glare at Agni, just enough to send his head beneath his pillow while she changed. The nightgown came off and the uniform went on. She laced up the top, noticing immediately that the dress was backless and sleeveless. She couldn’t help but smile once the top was in place.

It was much easier for her to Rune Shape on her skin than on her clothing. Having a uniform showing that much skin meant less of a struggle to fight. Paired with a flowing, green skirt, similar in style to the one the Lightning Mages she saw were wearing, gave her even more mobility. Most of the female Fire Mages she had seen were wearing ankle-length skirts, unlike the knee-length one she had been given. Last but not least was a new pair of boots with a steel toe that were likely just as fireproof as the rest of the ensemble.

Once she emptied the trunk, she spotted at the very bottom a little sewing kit and a note, “So you can repair your uniform yourself.” She couldn’t help but chuckle as she pulled the kit out and put it on her desk. She had no idea how to sow, but she would have to learn in case she ran into another Ghast.

“Alright Agni, let's get going,” she said, giving the dragon a little kick on the rump to get him moving.
