Nice macro. I suppose the underground is a leaf?
The detail is pretty good.

did you blur the drop or did it look like that from the start?
it's really awesome

aural In reply to mothfly [2007-05-20 21:46:52 +0000 UTC]

It look like that from the start and actually I wasn't happy with the photo because of that (I like crisp and clean) But I begin to like it
Thanks for your comment!

Hello, friend. Love your photography, macro shots, commentry - captivating stuff. There's a lot feeling and humour there... right on!

I'm a little confused by the focus though; seems inchoerent at times, with this picture and Soul of Autumn for example. Normally the focal plane is like a straight line, innit? Don't mean to be a jackass here

aural In reply to bjorntoday [2007-10-09 08:32:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah you must be right never thought of it before. You mean that it kinda bends (it's on Soft spot too right?), but I have no idea how it occured. I mean I just focus on some point and click Is it me doing something wrong? Please tell me!

bjorntoday In reply to aural [2007-10-09 15:03:40 +0000 UTC]

erm... I wouldn't say you're doing anything wrong... we're talking art world here. It's a lovely piece of art. I'll leave it at that (and simply remain a little mystefied about the focus, hihi)

aural In reply to bjorntoday [2007-10-10 08:59:36 +0000 UTC]

Still thinking about it but I think I know why it bends. That's because everything that's in focus has the same distance. The middle part on Soul of Autumn is further away so it's out of focus. I think....

bjorntoday In reply to aural [2007-10-10 09:41:37 +0000 UTC]

"That's because everything that's in focus has the same distance." - I'd say that's pretty much the theory

The confusing bit, to me, is that the focal plane looks sharp at different distances (esp. with the other image). But that's just my twisted perception. I think my mind's been playing tricks on me, assuming all along it's a leaf of some sort, i.e., a flat plane stretching from the front to the back. I guess I was ignoring the hairs, can't remember when I last saw a hairy leaf, *shrug

Look, this can all be over with very quickly if you just say the blur was Photoshopped. Haha... just kidding. Did I mention yet that I really like this image? (I'm still totally pros over cons, head over heels)

aural In reply to bjorntoday [2007-10-10 10:31:09 +0000 UTC]

Well that photoshopping part I thought you were thinking that, but that's just not the case. That's why it's bothering me you know. I don't like it when my photo's looks photoshopped because the only thing I do sometimes is a bit sharpening It's something we are discussing a lot lately with my parents (both photographers years ago), you can't tell anymore if a picture is shopped or not. Most of the magazine pictures are manipulated. So when you're having a lot of fuss to make a picture and you are standing on your head someone says you did shop that very well you know. It's kinda frustrating!

Ohw by the way its not a hairy leave Its a bud of a clematis after the rain

You did mention you like the image

I'm really sorry for having dropped the P word. I know it can be a touchy subject. And I don't mean to say your images look P-ESSED - not by a long shot!

Personally I don't really care how the images come about. It's an endless debate I would rather not have. If people seem to think an image was P-eed on, and it wasn't, then P on them I say.

It was fun while it lasted

aural In reply to bjorntoday [2007-10-10 22:51:47 +0000 UTC]

It is an endless discussion indeed and you can get very philosofical (?:S) about it. It has pro's and con's end of discussion ey
Don't P on them, just use a yellow filter

By the way this one was an experiment... tried a cross process filter But that has nothing to do with the blur hahaha

It didn't rain here for about six weeks and now we have had 1,5 week with only rain... that's not nice
But I think you need it over there harder
