I tried Mandelbulb3d for a couple of hours. Although I managed to make a few generic shapes, nothing even near the delicate complexity, depth and the amazing lighting that this piece has ever manifested. Did you try tutorials or learned by just trial and error?

Thanks so much!! Most of what I have learned has been through a lot of trial and error as you say, however there are some really good tutorials by HalTenny that actually inspired this particular piece. Here's one of them -> [link] Also, there are some sample parameter files that come with the program - good to check out to see how various formulas can be used, etc. Other users sometimes post their parameters along with their piece, which is another great way to learn ... Hope that helps! I encourage you to keep at it, it took me awhile to get the hang of things! Good luck!

Hahaha .... Thanks! I know what you mean, I had been seeing this style quite a bit since HalTenny came out with his very good tutorial(s). Took me quite a bit of experimentation to finally figure out how to get things under my control to make it come out how I wanted!
