Description

I got a new esk and thought I'd make a portrait for their profile! This is Limeren (they/she), an esk who was tormented by grief for their human partner for a long time before deciding to wander the world, seeking to find themself. You can read more about them on their profile .

Pre-Departure
"Oh, a guest? Why, you should have knocked. Come in, come in. Kindly forgive the lack of refreshments, we haven't had a chance to go out lately. I should introduce you to my beloved as well… yes, of course. Come, sit with us."

When Limeren was lingering in the overgrown manor house that was their boundary, they were imperious and intolerant of others. They spent their time in delusions of their past, speaking as if to their late partner, even when they have other esk as guests. They were weighed and twisted by a horrible grief that they could not escape, despite having forgotten their partner, leaving a person-shaped hole in their memories and their soul.

At this point of their life, should any other attempt to intrude on their life — human or esk — Limeren would barely tolerate their presence. It was "our home," secluded from everything and everyone else. Other esk they might accept as "guests," though they would still act as if there were another person with them, and any attempt to call Limeren out on the lack of another presence would earn Limeren's ire and a quick revocation of their welcome as a guest. Limeren would treat visiting esk with hospitality — though not without their imperious demeanor — so long as they were courteous guests, and went along with Limeren's simulation of their life with their partner at the manor. For humans… Limeren was quick to shoo them away, especially those with any intention of reclaiming the land or estate.

At first, they did not know esk were capable of time travel — but even when they did find out, they simply could not step into the past. Whether it was a flaw of their spirit or a mental barrier, they found that they could not bring themself backwards in time.

Post-Departure
"Call me Limeren, or Limen. Think of me as a wanderer, a traveler of the world. I am… looking for answers to some questions of mine. Hmm? What are they? Well, why don't you return the courtesy of introducing yourself first?"

After remembering their partner thanks to Vahi's interference, Limeren became more gentle, sorrowful, and subdued — though in many situations, their haughty demeanor will make a comeback. They treat others with courtesy and may become vexed at those who are rude in turn — which may manifest as scolding about their manners. They currently wander the world, seeking to understand themself and what they want.
