Description I decided to see what I could do with this if I converted it to an HDR. I think I like it more now.

Thank you. It wasn't too cold probably a little above freezing temp. Although probably much colder than you are used to since Malaysia is so close to the equator.

This makes an excellent HDR. the tones are perfect. the detail in the frozen water. and the pose of the people. very nice

this one is really cool to me because of the depth...from the pebbles under feet to the horizon afar. great composition. what's an HDR?

HDR means High Dynamic Range. To make an HDR you combine 3 identical photos taken at different exposures using a tripod and use image editing software to combine them. The purpose is to have a balanced exposure throughout the image so you don't have blown out highlights or shadows too dark to make out any detail. In many non-HDR photos the sky will be too bright if the foreground is exposed properly or the foreground will be too dark if the sky is exposed properly.
