Description     Up until recently, I believed I had the worst. I blamed everything bad on bad luck and couldn't exactly take the credit for the good things happening in my life either. Spending a lot of my time contemplating these thoughts, I became confused and frustrated. My view of the world was narrow and I only thought about what I want and what will benefit me. It was a very dark time and I attracted people who felt the same as I did. That didn't help me at all. In fact, it turned me worse than before. I needed to turn my life around, but I didn't know how and I didn't have the heart to.

One day I ran into an old friend from middle school. We hadn't seen each other in several years. A short 15 minute talk on campus turned into an hour conversation off campus. He's a lively individual and an easy going person. There was a positive aura about him. He received a text in the midst of our conversation relating to his job. "I have to go back to work in a few hours" he said with a smile.

    "What do you do?"

"I work in a restaurant serving customers." He replies.

"That sounds like a lot of hardwork. Especially if you're dealing with rude customers who act like they're raised without manners. I would work anywhere except at a restaurant. How do you cope with that stress?!" I asked expecting him to completely agree with me and complain about how much his job sucks, but he didn't.

"Buddy, you are correct. It isn't the occupation of my dream but it will help me get there. Not all customers are the most courteous, but I'm sure they're not terrible people. Maybe they've had a rough day and they're tired. Maybe the traffic on the way home was unusually busy. Whatever it is, my job is to serve them as best as I could and make their experience worthwhile. And I do consider myself fortunate to have found a job in this economy whereas others are struggling just for interviews. "

I was dumbfounded and heart-warmed. Sitting there directly across from the table, I see a man. Not just any man, but a man I aspire to be. "Attitude is the key, my friend. The old saying goes, "The man who says I can, and the man who says I can't are usually both right. " Is your cup half full or half empty". He finished with a smile, stood up and shook my hand.

We keep in touch and have been talking more and more. If he has the ability to set that as his mentality, why couldn't i? In fact, why couldn't anybody? I see him as an inspiration to become better minded.
