laughter, the most universal expression of Joy and happiness. whether you be a heartless monster, or a kind and caring soul, most individuals laugh when they are happy. for precious belle she had very few of those moments growing up where she could simply laugh and have fun. born homeless and having to spend her entire childhood illegally living in a junkyard taking care of her very sick sister, precious never really had a chance to enjoy herself. that is until one day she was looking around the junkyard for something to do and ended up finding a broken toy. though uneducated precious is by no means a dumb pony and was quite able to figure out what was wrong with the toy and fix it for her sister to play with. it was here she discovered a passion for cobbling toys together, and simply kept doing it. of course, being an teen pony by this time, she wasn't as interested in playing with them herself, but she gained a certain satisfaction from handing them out to any little filly's or Colts she came across. it was this behavior that would ultimately lead her to becoming the guardian of laughter. recognized by the crown, precious and her family's lives have gotten significantly better.

in this specific circumstance. the main realities, Rarity Belle, was raised homeless due to some bad investments her parents made draining the entire family fortune. without the financial backing to go to college, or to support an expensive sewing hobby, she had to make her own fun and eventually found her way into toy making instead of fashion.
