Description So recently, I've sort of been trying to come back to DA a little bit.  I most likely won't be spending all that much time on here, just popping in every once and a while to dump art and things.  Things like this!

The original Influence Map I got here: fav.me/d2vx881

As I did this, I tried to focus on the influences that ultimately led me to become an artist because trying to include everything would've made for one enormous image.  So here goes, from left to right, top to bottom:

1. Brian Froud - The Dark Crystal became one of my favorite movies in high school.  I was incredibly impressed with the art direction and its ability to create this believable world that didn't even have humans in it.

2. Cicely Mary Barker - My sister has this Flower Fairy Book of hers that I used to flip through all the time as a kid.

3. Studio Ghibli movies - the first one I watched was Spirited Away while I was home sick from school.

4. Avatar: the Last Airbender - probably the first show I watched start to finish.  I spent a lot of time copying the art style in Junior High and High School.

5. Alan Lee

6. Tangled

7. The Secret of Kells - to this day, I think this is one of the most beautifully animated films I've ever seen.

8. Chris Van Allsburg - this is more of an unconscious influence.  One of my favorite books as a kid was The Z was Zapped and it wasn't until a little while ago that I was looking at some of my work and realized some similarities between the two.

9. Shaun Tan - probably the biggest influence on me actually deciding to pursue a career in illustration.

10. Lois Ehlert's Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - collage!

11. Jenny Dolfen - one of the first artists I discovered through Elfwood and Deviantart.

12. My sister, Megan - I always wanted to be just like her.

13. Magweno - another artist I discovered here on DA.  I believe it was an old tutorial of hers that I followed to create my first art doll.

Anyways, this was super fun to do.
