Yeah, named after some sort of star, IIRC. I've tossed the name around to many characters (Everything from a Kokiri girl to a friggin' Dragon) before, but never really liked it... so... yuh. My wierd Mermaid-ish female now bears the name instead...BOOBIES!
Do you *have* to put "mature content" when boobs are present? 'Cause... they're not being used in a sexual way and junk.
Ah well, whatever.
She looks familiar though, don't she? >o>; wull. Uh. I can explain that... Ok, no I really can't. xD;
Anywho, there's some big ol' elaborate story between her and the next character I'm going to post... Basically, Mira meets young, strapping fisherman (named Jake. He'd been a social outcast all his life and always felt himself drawn to the ocean, barely scraping by on a mundane job on a fishing barge, blah blah) out at sea, tries to save his life when Posiedon creates a rogue giant wave to capsize several human ships in the area (Posiedon's the jealous, wrathful brother of benevolent King Neptune who hates all land-folk. Yes, they're technically the same person, but I felt like making two characters out of two mythical names... Anyway, he tries to kill humans at every opportunity, and this is no exception)... After Mira saves his life they become friends (and dare I suggest they start to fall in love? XD), but soon one of Jake's money-grubbing bosses catches on and tries to capture Mir to make some dough. When Jake tries to free her from captivity to return her to the sea, said boss gets desperate, and shoots poor Mr. Hero as he takes a round for Mira... As restitution for saving a Mermaid's life, he's granted one wish within her power... Before he looses consciousness he wishes that he could be at his friend(see: Love)'s side forever, and she figures turning him into a mer-dude would make that a helluva lot easier... So, he disregards his dead-end life and becomes a mer-person like Mira, and they live happily ever after under the sea, blah blah blah, you know the gist. If I had a dollar for every cliche I've abused in this story, I'd be loaded. Shut up already. XD

Very pretty, and I like how you've done the tail, it makes alot of anatomical sense. Personally I would have either a long thin shark-like tail or an eal tail if I was a mermaid, it's much cooler and more non-conformist.
Cute story, but yes, cliche.
And the shading on everthing, particularly the tail, is awesome. However, like in CrazyJetty's comment your anatomy needs a tiny bit of practise. I really like it however. ^_^

while you still have a little ways to go on your human anatomy, I adore the design, and the shark portion is simply beautiful. I also like her face, and the shading is beautiful, as well.
