can you smudge in Tegaki, or did you just not want to do that? Cause it might have made the opacity look a little better...

No, no smudge or blur tools. You have to rely on other colors for blending, basically. xD;

Isn't opacity the fade tool? It fades one layer into another layer. That.. might be why it didn't go so well. O.o
