They began writing to each other when Serenity was in the hospital about a year before her eye operation, although Serenity’s mother didn’t approve of her being in contact with a girl she’d never met. But that didn’t stop Serenity from keeping in contact with Kagome. They had always been very kind to each other in their letters, Kagome being supportive of Serenity and always giving her hope that she would get the operation, and Serenity giving Kagome encouragement through a situation she’d been going through with a mysterious boy Kagome would say got on her nerves a lot but deep down had a pure heart. Not long after the conclusion of the Dawn of the Duel arc, Serenity receives a letter from Kagome inviting her to stay with her and her family in Tokyo. Although hesitant at first, Serenity’s mother agrees and lets her go, and Serenity meets Kagome for the first time at the train station, and on the train ride to Tokyo, she also unexpectedly meets the boy Kagome talked about in her letters. A certain half-demon named InuYasha…
