You fell to the ground and skid on your butt. Your hair fell into your eyes and you struggled to see what had knocked you down.
You felt around on the ground and tried to regain your footing, your hands came across two strange objects that moved away from your touch. You knew was someone there, you turned around on your knees and stood up as quick as you could. Flipping your head back to get your (h/c) hair out of your face.
In front of you, stood a young man a little bit older than you, yet shorter than you by at least two inches. He had deep brown hair that appeared black, and his face was stoic except for a slight blush across his cheeks. And his eyes were a warm hazel brown. He was wearing a white tee-shirt that seemed too big for him and sky blue capris.
You both stood there and stared at each other awkwardly. His expression never changing. You never took your eyes off of his; you weren’t sure what you were supposed to do. Until you noticed his eyes motioned downward. You looked down at his hand and found the book you had been reaching for. He was offering it to you.
“Oh! Um…” You slowly and tentatively grasped the book and held it with both hands. You couldn’t believe you had just stared at this cute guy for a whole minute. You looked down at the book and tried to hide your blush.

You flipped the book over in your hands, pretending to read the back. Although you were painfully aware that that he was still standing there. He was the one to break the silence.
“Konichiwa. My name is Kiku.” He bowed. You raised your eyebrows as he stood straight again.
“Uh… I’m _________... I… I’m sorry for staring at you like that; it was very rude of me…” You stared at the floor… Or the shelf… or the ceiling… just anything! You were so embarrassed…
“No. It is okay. I shourd actuarry thank you.” He bowed again. “Arigato, ________.”
You glanced at him in confusion. “Why are you thanking me?” You stepped closer and his face lit up pink. He placed both of his hands to his sides and stepped back.
“I am sorry if I don’t shake hands. I am not accustomed to touching people…” You nodded and kept your distance.
“________, do you like that country?” Kiku pointed at the book you were clutching tightly out of nervousness
“Oh! Yes! Very much! I love Japan, the country is so wonderful~ All the city’s and the modern technology! It seems so full of life! Much different than my life just reading books all day… I love Japanese anime and manga too!” You picked up you bag from the chair at the end of the library hallway. You pulled (assortment of favorite manga’s) out of you bag and beamed a smile. Kiku returned the smile.
“Oh, but that’s not all… I love the old culture of japan too. All the tradition and the ceremonies and festivals. Someday, I want to visit there, and see the cherry trees blossom…” You clutched the small book close to your chest and closed your eyes with a sigh.
Kiku’s eyes widened as they traced the contours of your dreaming face. He looked away and turned a slight pink color. But you didn’t see it.
“Anyway… What about you Kiku?” You flashed him a smile as he followed you out to the front desk.
“Oh, Werr. My homerand is in Japan… It’s a nice place, but I have never heard it describes rike how you said it…” He watched you check out your book, and then submitted some of his own, mostly manga or anime books.
“Wow! What is it like? Have you seen the mountain? Are there lots of cosplayers there? What does the Tokyo look like at night? Are capsule hotels as cool as they look? Am I asking too many questions?” You quickly smacked your hands over your mouth.
“No no! It is okay… I wirr answer them. Those are very good questions…”
You both walked out the front of the library, still talking about recent developments in certain anime shows, or your OTP’s.
As you both stopped on the sidewalk, this was where Kiku said his bus would be arriving. And your street was only a few houses away. You were about to part ways.
“Thank you for talking with me Kiku… It was fun.” He nodded his head and started to sift through his pockets, looking for something.
“Oh, Kiku… I wanted to ask you one last question…”
“Hai, _______?”
“What were you thanking me for in the library?”
Kiku sighed in relief and produced a high-quality digital camera from his pocket. He pointed it at you for a brief second, your eyes catching the evening light perfectly.
“I was thanking you for staring at me. I was abre to see your eyes. They are most beautifur and rovery.” He carefully put the camera back in his pocket and turned away, hoping you wouldn’t see him blush. But this time you caught it.
“…Kiku, I-“
Before you could thank him for his compliment, the bus screeched to a stop and Kiku gathered his things. You dropped your bags and pulled the library receipt out of your pocket. Hastily scribbling your number over the printed words. You took a book from Kiku’s arms and he watched as you placed it in the cover, and then returned it.
“We should talk again sometime…” You managed to stammer out as he stepped onto the bus.
“Sushi okay?” Kiku smiled.
“Hai.”
The bus sped off as you walked down your street, humming Vocaloid.
