Correct me if I use this word wrong, is Aveline a Mulatto?
I read that Mulatto are people who are half-African and half-African in around 18th century term, "Mulatto" means "mule" in Spanish which they are biracial. Like Aveline, Mulatto are more privileged than non-mixed dark-skinned people just because of their partly White descent.

I don't know much but I heard of this lifestyle Haiti when it used to a French plantation colony.
