About theme: Honestly talking, Final Fantasy IV is pretty bad game. I still love it to death!
About execution/critique: Yay! 30 days, picture a day, without fail (well, there were fails, but of different kind). IΒ survived it!

So, just to get it out of the way, Cecil/Kain isn't my favorite IV ship, though I harbor towards it no ill will. On the upside, it frees up Rosa/Rydia with no guilty conscience, so.
Favorite ship for me is one that has a heavy dusting of crack (Asura/Rydia, stems from Rydia asking "Where do babies Eidolons come from?" and eventually focuses on the awkwardness of crushing on her holy-war-goddess foster mom), by the way.Β
Shipping aside, I really do like how faithful you've tried to be to Amano's works. Cecil is and pretty much always has been a man who could genuinely be described as beautiful, not merely handsome. Hell, in Dissidia, he's competition with Kuja, of all characters, as the most bishonen character in the entire cast. I think you've managed to capture that in this picture. It may not be as laden with beads and bangles and tufts of feathers as what Amano himself does, but that hardly detracts from it at all. In all honesty, I'd say that if you did try to match it in that way, it would have actually looked like you were trying too hard; in my opinion, you got it just right. As well, I wouldn't call #27 there a failure either. Amano has done some very bright, vividly-colored characters before. Take a look at Rubicante, Kefka, Gogo, and his rendition of Queen Brahne. Both palettes suit different examples of the stuff you were aiming for just fine.

I wasn't much impressed by Ater years, but it gave me some good femslash shippings, like Rydia x princess Luca.
