Description Okay, so I decided to sit myself down and re-do this because, well, doing my fourth year film and actually having to bring up points of reference for where I want my film to go made me realize that my original points of reference on this thing are a bit different than I originally thought. Most of it's the same, but whatever. I left out the names this time around because words take up space. But yeah, here they are and why:

Shoomlah (top left), Matt Rhodes (bottom left), Makani (bottom right), Pierre Alary (pirate lookin dude bottom right center) - I pretty much look to all of these people when I'm in a complete and total mental rut. There's something incredibly inspiring about all of their artwork, and it's mainly to do with the kind of energy that all of their pieces have, even if it's relatively still and with a singular character. Looking at their stuff has also helped me feel a bit more comfortable with expanding on the way I draw, more poignantly, being okay with drawing a lot more loose and to really let loose when it comes to trying to convey expressions.

Mattahan (bottom center), John William Waterhouse (center top left), Claire Wendling (center center) - These are people that I look to for anatomy reasons. John William Waterhouse should actually have a much bigger slot but I'm terrible at planning these things. He's probably my oldest influence to date, aside from Mucha. He's actually part of the reason why I gave up drawing anime all together and to try and learn how to properly draw the human body, and to -then- learn to stylize it. Everyone else kind of just followed tout suite. Though Mattahan's artwork also just makes me happy because he shows a lot of black females which make me +10 happiness since I feel like we're represented a lot less when it comes to artwork.

Julie Dillon (bottom left center) just blows my mind with her digital paintings. Every time I see something of hers, it just blows my mind and it pushes me to learn how to paint digitally.

Redredundance (above the pirate) has actually been a huge influence for my film. ... Which I just realized I've yet to share anything about how that's going (but it's going well, I swear!)

Okay,

Florence and the Machine (top center), Mute Math (Top right), and Janelle Monae (right under florence) are actually probably more influential than most people I know around me right now when it comes to my artwork hahahahaha. Mute Math has actually been helping me revive my Narcoleptic Insomnia project (which I've decided to start over completely, so don't hold your breath for updates if you're waiting, I probably won't even release any pages or anything for it until the tail end of this year/beginning of next). Florence is just what I listen to when I need help trying to set up something that's actually emotional and Janelle is just what I listen to for something high energy/inspirational.

Then you've got Doctor Who and the Last Airbender as just influences for me in trying to tell stories and evolving concepts.

And last but not least, Małgorzata Maj (Sarachmet on here, massive photo on the far right) is just a general point of reference when I want to see something beautiful. She's, in a lot of ways, tied to John William Waterhouse when it comes to influence on anatomy as well. I love the 'non-conventional' (for lack of a better term) models that she uses.

ALRIGHT. And that's that. Time to go back to working on Narcoleptic Insomnia. See y'all on the flip side.

All artwork is copy written by their respective owners. Check out all of their stuff! It's all really sick!
