She's the Swan Princess. She is cursed by an evil wizard to take the form of a swan, and only if moonlight touches the lake she's bound to can she turn human, and when moonlight leaves it, she turns back into a swan. Her prince must make a vow of everlasting love to break it.

His name is Rothbart, he used to serve under her father until he was caught in a plot to overthrow him. The king only banished him instead of sentencing him to death, which made Rothbart plan this as revenge.
