Description The Jurassic bony fish, Leedsichthys problematicus, was about 50 to 75 feet long, making it the largest bony fish ever to exist. This, alas for L. problematicus, was a fish without bite, as it was a gargantuan filter-feeder, and was probably attacked by the swifter-moving pliosaurs, like the largest of all Jurassic pliosaurs, Liopleurodon ferox.

A trio of Geosaurus crocodiles swim by.

The head looks really weird.

Especially since the head was amended due to new material.

a question - where do you take the reconstructions from? I can't remember seeing many pics of Leedsichthys before ... horrid fish!

as for Bruntonichthys - I haven't got any pics, I think you need to talk to someone called Zerina Johanson. She's based at the Australian Museum in Sydney, and knows everything about Australian placoderms!

I used Ray Troll's reconstruction as a reference, as the BBC's version looks so fake and fleshy.

Oh?
She have an email?

You don't suppose you could email her my version of Bruntonichthys, then?

well ... I would do ... but Zerina and I don't exactly get on very well for various complicated reasons ...

But if you want to talk to someone about your pictures, really you should try this guy - John Long at Victoria, Australia. He's a scientist and illustrator and loves placoderms His email is jlong@museum.vic.gov.au
