Description
The pycnosteid heterostracan, Tartuosteus maximus, from Late Devonian Estonia. About one meter from tip of the tail to end of the mouth.The pycnosteids were a group of Devonian heterostracan fishes that are descended from the pteraspids. They were also the only heterostracans to survive until the end of the Devonian.
