As Katara walked away from the man that killed her mother, all of the tears that she hadn’t spent already poured down her cheeks. She then ran. She didn’t know where, but she ran, blindingly into the storm, away from both that monster of a murderer and Zuko.
Finally, as her lungs gasped for air, she stopped, her face tilted towards the sky, crying like she never had before. Screaming at the heavens, cursing, she let out all of her agony, sorrow, rage, pain and sadness that was locked within her body and soul. She wished to be rid of this pain.
Suddenly a warm hand grasped hers. She turned, startled, and stared into his gold eyes. And at that moment, she didn’t feel the hate for him that she had always had. Zuko said nothing, but the lightning that split the air showed her his face, that his hair was plastered by the rain to his form, but it was like he didn’t even feel the rain. He just stared, deep into her blue eyes.
He put one hand on the side of her face in comfort, letting her lean into it, while with the other, he put on her shoulder, rubbing her gently to comfort her. Katara just stood there, crying as one with the sky, and suddenly, she trusted Zuko. She just wanted to be near him, and only him.
He then rested his forehead on hers. Never in her life had she felt more comforted. He had a soft, gentle, firm, protective feel, all at once, and she never wanted to pull herself away from him. She wanted him there, with her. She placed her hands on his chest, feeling the rise and fall of his breathing and heart. It comforted her and got her mind at peace. And, finally exhausted, her rivers down her face turned to mere streams, Katara knew he understood. He had lost his mother as well. He knew the pain.
And through their embrace through the storm, the message sent from Zuko’s body, mind, and soul to Katara was this.
“I know what you’ve been through. I am here for you. Always.”

Okay, I've officially (I think) become a Zutarian!!! Actually, I love both Zutara and Kataang, so I'm gonna keep doing art for both! Anyway, I don't even know where this drawing came from for me, but once I started, I couldn't stop! And I can come up with fanfictions on the spot! If you ever need one for your art, just let me know! And I haven't forgotten about your request. I'll get a fanfic up for "Anger" as soon as I can!
But basically, the fanfic above explains it all. I thought about what would happen if Katara didn't wait until they were back with the whole gaang to forgive Zuko. That she was finally through with her agony inside, and she let it out. And Zuko was right there to comfort her, as he knew exactly what and how she felt.
I love Zuko. I keep telling people that I fell in love with him. And I guess that's true avatarded-ness when you do...
