Here is my fourth drawing for the Headshot-a-Day Wings of Fire Challenge! This is Starflight the NightWing, one of the dragonets of destiny. He was a lot of fun to draw - NightWings seem to be the easiest for me to draw - and I really enjoyed making his design. Unlike the other dragonets, I did not select his colors and design from the cover but instead made my own design. He is described in the book as having hints of blue in his scales, so I made him a bit more blue, because not all NightWings can be black or gray. I also experimented with drawing his scales differently than I did with Pathseeker, my NightWing OC, and he has slightly different proportions as well. I want to be able to have characters from the same tribe that look different not just because of coloring, and I think that worked in this case.

In the future, I want to experiment more with the designs for the different tribes, but at the moment I am just trying to get a hang of dragon anatomy and so will likely stick close to the book illustrations. Once I have more practice, I will continue to experiment with poses and designs.

I am going to keep drawing my OCs (I have several that I am still designing / figuring out how to draw) in the future, but for practice drawing dragons I'm doing the Headshot-a-Day Wings of Fire Challenge (sta.sh/0226o5iumeuz), although I might not be able to quite keep up with doing one every day, as I have other responsibilities. Still, it's be fun to give it a shot! Tomorrow is Sunny! She's a lot of fun, and I can't wait for you guys to see her finished!
