Hello everyone! Tealinia93 here, (apparently also known as "Maggia Captain," or just "Captain," lol).

First off, I just want to say I'm very happy to be helping out the administration team here with the group, and I hope to bring good things to it that everyone approves of.
Just a little bit about myself: I have over two years combined experience with the Marvel universe, (starting with X-Men Evolution in my younger days, intermittent sessions with games and movies, and now the majority spent with the Earth-616 universe), three years combined experience as an administrator with past groups, and over eight years combined experience with character creation and development. Let it not be said there's no room for improvement though. Always looking to make things better.

I'm also pleased to announce that this group is now developing a new feature!
We've recently created a DeviantART chatroom that will be used for group role play (RP).
For those who are new to the concept, RP is sort of like collaborative story-writing; You can write pieces of your characters' points of view together with each other to create a story and get interaction with other characters.
From past experience, it's proven to be a great development tool, as well as a lot of fun. Sure, you can create a whole story about your character just from gaining knowledge of the universe and its characters, but you can truly bring your characters to life this way.

To start with that, I'm going to go ahead and set up a few guidelines:

All the rules of the group apply while in the chatroom. Remember to be respectful to everyone and their OCs.
The RP chatroom is an optional feature. If you wish not to participate, that's your choice, however, I do strongly recommend giving it a try. In addition, the chatroom is not only for RP; it can also be used for general discussion.
If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment. We're always open to new ideas here, (that's how the RP chat started in the first place). Give us all you got!

I'd also like to include a few how-tos:

To role play in the chatroom, we recommend creating an account specifically for the purpose. In past groups I've administrated, the easiest way to specify characters was to have its members create dA accounts with the names of their characters to use for RP. Really, all we're looking for is the username. Art or journal submissions, icons, or customization of the page is optional, but once again, something that is recommended. It makes the experience that much more enjoyable. As for usernames, you may use your characters' given names or codenames; just so long as we know who it is. (For example, I've created accounts for my two characters, Project-Stasis and Project-Cosmos )
After you've created your character's account, please be sure to give us the username as well as the character's affliation, (Avenger, X-Man, Neutral, Villian, etc.), so it can be placed in the correct class in the chatroom. We'd all like to know who we're dealing with around here. It might look funny for an Avenger to act friendly toward a well-known supervillian.
When role playing in the chatroom, a certain format is recommended. In chatrooms, the easiest way to RP is to use a "script" form. It consists of open text for dialogue, and actions are typically written between asterisks (**) or dashes (--). For example, a typical RP post might look something like this: I wonder what the group is up to over there. *walks toward the group* Simple, easy to understand, you get the idea.
Specify when speaking out of character. Let's be honest... It's difficult to come up with plots or situations right off the bat. Sometimes we need to discuss amongst each other to come up with ideas. When doing so, however, please specify that you're out of character. The most common way to do that is to put your text in parenthesis (( )) or brackets [[ ]], just so long as it's different from your normal role play posts.
For those of us with more than one character, it is possible to play both at the same time. When entering the chatroom, make sure you're signed in to the account you want to use for RP, (or, if you want only to join in general discussion, just use your main account. I've already added all the members to the chatroom's "Members" class), then enter the chatroom. Once it's loaded, open a new tab or window in your browser. From there, sign out of the account you're currently using. The chatroom will remain open in your other tab or window as your first account. Then, sign in to your other account. From there, you can sign into the chatroom a second time with one account in one tab and the other account in another tab.
When beginning a role play, be courteous of each other. Sometimes, people in the chatrooms don't actually want to RP; they just want to sit back and watch instead. It can be considered rude to try and drag others into a role play. Simply invite the person to RP with you rather than trying to force them to.

That should just about cover it. Because this feature is still in development, we're going to limit the characters to just the OCs for now. If things go smoothly, we will also be making an application sheet for members to RP as cannon characters as well. Of course, that will include having extensive knowledge of the cannon characters' histories, personalities, and relations. Let us know if you're interested.
