Born on his homeworld of Kalee, Szarka was discovered at a young age by Jedi Master Plo Koon. Szarka knew a life of relative peace up until shortly after his ascension to knighthood. The Clone Wars had begun, and Szarka took to his duty as a protector of the republic with pride, if not also hesitation.

A few years into the war, an ancient, yet young Jedi Master was discovered frozen in carbonite by Jedi Master Kit Fisto. This master, Nat Sko'Dal, was a young prodigy with an affinity for force visions, long thought lost to time. As Nat quickly took their own spot to defend the republic, Masters Kit and Plo saw an opportunity for the two Jedi to grow, and assigned them to work alongside each other in the war, along with their own respective clone battalions.

As the war progressed, the two formed a strong comradery and friendship not easily broken. Countless victories proved these two were a force for the separatists to reckon with. Soon, a plot to betray the Jedi was discovered by Nat, and alongside them and a select group of Jedi, Szarka saved his battalion from the fate of Order 66. As the empire rose from the republic, Szarka and Nat went deep into hiding.

With the weight of his old master's death, along with the near entirety of the Jedi order bearing down on Szarka's mind, he felt his sight of the Jedi way fading. His doubts were no secret to Nat, and after many arguments and a near violent confrontation, Szarka left his long time friend's company to find his own way.

Accompanied by two of his old clones, Szarka found himself a successful career in bounty hunting. Nearly 14 years passed, and on one fateful day, Szarka discovered a target he could not bring himself to collect. A young mirialan boy, one born with sensitivity towards the force. Unable to complete the job, Szarka revealed himself as a Jedi to the boy and took him under his wing.

Szarka knew he was no teacher. His abandonment of the Jedi Order and his years ignoring his connection to the force left him as useful as the young mirialan. It was then one of the two clones who had followed Szarka revealed he had been keeping contact with the others who had remained with Nat, and that they could in fact re-connect.

The thought both excited and terrified Szarka. He had left Nat at such a dark point in his life, he'd said things he still hadn't forgiven himself for. What could Nat possibly think of him? These thoughts were dwarfed though, by his realization that this was not for him, but for the boy. The boy needed training, and protection. After months of searching, Szarka was drained of hope. Following his loyal clone troopers to a backwater forest planet, he expressed near constant pessimism. Just as he believed he would never see Nat's face, he was brought to a tent on the planet, where inside the Jedi lost in time stood. Not with a sneer or grimace, but with a face of welcoming compassion.

It was then Nat revealed that they had had their first force vision since the end of the Clone Wars. A vision of Szarka, returning to them. At that moment, All of Szarka's fears and doubts towards the force began to fade.

After fourteen years, two friends who thought they would never see the other, were brought together once more.
