Yes, pretty much. I actually did have a small concept long ago of mass-produced Pokemon robots (or "Poke-bots") employed for certain tasks, like a Mawile designed to process recycled metal, or a Yanma as a hovering surveillance drone. I think Registeel inspired that in addition to Metagross.
