I love the way you drew them, reminds of my style to draw anthros. You draw characters taller than usually and you can still keep them look similiar like they originally do. That's amazing! Good work! Β

My word, it's always a rare gem to find someone depict the classic Toons in a more modern, mature style, taking them into new and uncharted territory...and yet, maintaining those crucial elements which make them so recognizable! And here, my friend, you've pulled it off. If you had to break this rule of yours for the sake of any one couple, I'm glad it was this one. After all, for all the "not-getting-the-hint" amorous ways of Pepe, it turns out that more often than not, once his odor is no longer an issue, Penelope can't get enough of him--much to his considerable surprise (methinks he's not used to BEING the one chased).
I love the classy, 1920s/1940s-era setting you seemed to go for, here--from Pepe's suit to Penelope's evening gown, I can see these two walking into some ritzy jazz club for a quiet, sizzling evening for two; a little dinner, a waltz on the dance floor, a romantic walk through the park afterwards...
Plus there's your masterful use of shading and posture. All in all, a good reason to nail this one up in my favorites.
