This is the first page to my comic 'Comedienne' which is loosely based off of the life and humour of my friends and I.
I submited it to the Shonen jump Manga competion, and there are a bunch of things that worry me. The main thing being the orientation, which by the way, is left to right.

The idea for the comic was hypothesised a long time ago, but when I heard about the competition, something lit a fire under me, and I stopped doing what I do best to start drawing. Procrastinating. It was hard to stay on top of, but I'm actually quite surprised and proud of the care I took into this, despite it's massive mistakes and faults.

It took me the summer to work on this thing, on and off, and the beginning month of my school year to really put a close on. It was kinda ardurous, but I think if I set my mind to it, I could make a much better, and longer comic. (Which this was intended to be, but I had a 45 page limit.)

This is the first comic I've ever used digital screen toning on. It seemed pretty easy (would have been easier if I wasn't using my ball mouse), but I could have made it better. It's also the first comic I've done where a girl wears a 'traditional' school uniform. I wanted to have them wear the uniform at my school, which is a polo with the school logo on it and work pants, but I guess I wanted to add that schoolgirl theme.

One more thing to ramble about is the characters. I really like how I made the characters in this. They came out as acurate caricatures of my friends' wacked personalities. Their visual designs will be tweaked in the next issue thingy, since they came out a bit premature. Nothing way too big, though. (Well, accept I intend on improving my drawing.)

Um anyway, I hope you like this. The next issue should be much much much much much much better.
