Description
The Indian goddess Kali, she of war and death. Worshipped as a stern mother (mostly in Bengal), although that aspect has been deliberately suppressed here. This is actually a thumbnail for a full-scale painting, which is also in my gallery.Medium: Ink wash on paper.

Even with this minimal color play it speaks strongly, the power of contrast ever lays on Kali Maa.

Thank you for liking them. This one was actually a quick thumbnail to pin down the light-and-shade of the final (coloured) version, but I feel this has a life of its own.
