Grrr...I can't remember the name of this monastery, but it was like one of the COOLEST places in Armenia. It's built in the very center of this narrow mountain pass, and when the weather hits it just right, this happens. It's weird. You could almost take a pen and outline where the fog and snow stops and where the dried up leaves begin. Awesome.

Name of this church is Haghartsin near Dilijan city. It is great place, never saw this church in winter.

Thankx a lot. Haha...I do agree with you though. It was a breathtaking place that almost seemed as if I had stepped through a portal into another world when I saw it. Gorgeous, silient, cold, and eerie. Sounds like the perfect mix for a dream to me.

My Grandparents lived there for 6 years, and during that time, my Grandda pretty much became a hero to a lot of the small villages. (He worked to teach them how to make goat cheese and milk as well as set up government fundings for irrigation and drinking wells.) So when my Grandda died, I went back with my Grandma to set up a scholarship fund in my Grandda's name at the University in Yerevan (Armenia's capital city) and open up a new well dedicated to him in one of the villages. We were there for two weeks, so I thankfully had plenty of time to check out the countryside.

That's awesome. I haven't been to that part of the world yet but I would love to. Also hits close to home as i have a keen interest in micro finance and in a way, that's what your grandfather was doing.
