Sir Topham Hatt in the movie was an angry jerk to Thomas which is very unlike the Sir Topham Hatt we know and love, and I had a theory that the STH that was yelling at Thomas wasn't the real Sir Topham Hatt but rather Sailor John in disguise try to get the treasure and abuse Thomas and take over the railway. So if that was true then the real STH should have came to scold the fake one (who I theorized is Sailor John in disguise) for being a jerk to Thomas and for trying to take over Sodor.
