Description Ah yes, 2022. The year where people became super hyped for the films that they all have been waiting for. Some of them are long-waited sequels, some are original, only a little are spin-offs, and even some that may not be original but can rather watch it anyway. It seems to me that this year has been successful due to the fact that there are so many films that are amazingly masterful and many films that begin from mixed to really bad. So with that means said, I guess it's fair that I get to talk about all of the 2022 films again but this time in this yearly tier list, and I will be placing them from lower to higher due to their rankings.
I'm AwesomeIsaiah and this is the Top 5 Best & Worst Movies of 2022!

Number 5 Worst.....Pinocchio A True Story: 4/10
Not to be confused with the Disney remake and the stop-motion one, this one is cheaply animated and has been set to straight to DVD. When I first discovered this, it became viral as a meme, and the reviewers find it so hilariously bad that it became bootifull. Are they right? Well, yes and no. For the yes part, the comedy and dialogue did give me chuckles for the most part. For the no part however, this movie is just plain weird. The story needs a lot of work to be done, especially that the whole circus plot doesn't add up to anything of the film is supposed to be. The animation is of course cheap, without a doubt. Some characters are just trash and forgettable. The music isn't great either, it's pretty annoying. Like I said, I understand why people find it so bad that it is comedy gold due to the memes, and I respect that. As for me on the other hand, I just find it plainly bad for what it is.
Pinocchio may look exactly like a man, but he doesn't really have that much world to see.

Number 4 Worst.....Hocus Pocus 2: 3/10
You know what grinds my gears on every Halloween? Friends and families watching the overrated film Hocus Pocus. That film was so dark that I don't even think that children should watch that, especially that there are dirty jokes. For many years to come, they wanted a sequel, and then now here they go, a sequel that I absolutely didn't ask for. Every sequel has it's own way of continuing the story with some new elements, so what about this one, hm? What's this sequel's purpose? They brought back the witches. Okay, and what did they do new with it? Absolutely nothing! It feels like that you are not only watching a sitcom, but you are also watching the same exact film as the first but worst since it admitted to have a sudden self-plagiarism. There is no story, the characters are constant dog water, and the action scenes aren't great either. This sequel really is that pointless, and it has nothing to do left for the Halloween film itself that focuses on the backstory and then cut to the current year where they return. Big surprise, they did it again, oh how much I love me some rehashes all over my skin. If Hocus Pocus really needed a sequel, I'd say they should just make a new story with newer villains to face with, that's what a sequel is supposed to be like, not reusing the same thing that the first already did.
The witches are back again, and I ain't giving them a couple of tries as they desire children.

Number 3 Worst.....Paws of Fury: 3/10
Remember the Mel Brooks film Blazing Saddles? That hilarious film managed to execute the whole Western idea well, and I like the message about being treated crap when you are in a different race while succeeding your goal to be a heroic cowboy. Paws of Fury on the other hand is the opposite. That film was so unfunny, it doesn't manage to execute the samurai idea well, and the message about being a heroic dog for the cats is a huge downgrade. This film has even been taken so long to make and it failed, what a complete waste of time. The story is atrocious, the animation is a downfall, the characters are hateable, the action scenes are not great, the logic doesn't make any sense, and it is so unfunny. Whoever made this must've watched way too much Blazing Saddles just to make a kiddie version that has a poster picture showing a sumo cat butt. What this film also bothers me with is the main characters, the two heroes are jerks to each other while the villains are generically stereotypes. I think it's best to say that the legend of Hank is about a retarded dog that is so "special" that everyone died, The End.
"Blazing Samurai"? That's funny because more like "Blazing I Can't Believe It's Not Saddles".

Number 2 Worst.....Turning Red: 3/10
I was not happy when this announced. It's basically a kiddie version of Hulk where a young Asian Canadian girl turns into a big red panda when she is too excited, too upset, too angry, or just having puberty. I mean, I could be wrong about that film, maybe they can make it as entertaining as some Pixar films, what could possibly go wrong?

Meilin: *twerking in front of the screen before the title*

Red Panda Meilin: *also twerking at parties and concerts*

...wow. Just wow. |:c
That movie is very disturbing. It's like if I am watching the cursed Netflix film Cuties where the girls do adultry as they became mindless sluts, except this time that the girls here in this movie may not do adultry stuff but are way too obsessed with the singer boys. Can't believe I'm saying this, but this film is worse than Cars 2. The story is messy, the comedy is disturbing, the animation is bland, the characters are very forgettable, and the pop music is so tacky. Another thing about it is that it feels so mean-spirited, there is this family that has a religion of a red panda curse causing the ancestors to have puberty as they learned to break the curse by every red moon night, but unfortunately the twerking nerd refuses to break the curse and stays as a anime-styled furry forever, and her mother is filled with harshful hate. This has got to be the worst Pixar film ever made, especially by their standards of making it. Man, I'm sure feeling blue when watching this. I think this scene says it best.

Red Panda Meilin: *twerking in front of her mom as a distraction*

Red Panda Ming: *man screaming from Flapjack* AUUUUUGGGHHHHH!!!

And the Number One Worst Film of 2022 is...DC League of Superpets: 2/10
Who the fridge would be so stupid enough to make a film about those forgotten pet heroes? Oh yeah, DC made this, that makes sense. I was so unexcited when this announced, especially when I thought it is gonna make a big quick buck from people. As it is released, I was right all along, this movie is a dumpster fire big time. The story is so undeveloped, the comedy has left into the shadows, the animation is bad, the characters are infamous, the action scenes are wasted potential, the message is too pathetic, and worst of all this movie is so empty. There is more stuff about it of what makes it wrong like the lack of characters, voice actors selling out, changing one superhero into a girl, a few second long lesbian scene, exposition that has been stealing the film way too long, pointless characters with very unoriginal powers, recycling the same dead parents backstory, having one superhero become too docile to his dog, the villain not changing her character development, and don't get me started on the plot twists. Yeah, this film is that bad, and I will say that this shouldn't exist. If you wanna see the real Justice League, try watching the 2017 film of it instead. I mean, the fans don't like it as much as the Avengers film series, but that film at least tried of what it wants to be, not to mention that it has some memorable action scenes along with a great source of the comic superhero source materiel where the heroes show how serious and simplified they are at the same time.
I'll have this movie be taken to the vet to get FIXED just so it won't make the same mistake ever again, and so we can continue our lives on watching better and cooler superhero movies than this one, and that is why DC League of Superpets is the number one worst film of 2022.

A Toy Story spin-off that is disappointing, but it does have some great elements.

The Bob's Burgers Movie: 7/10
Based on a Fox show that is actually not bad, and it does have an impressive execution.

Number 5 Best.....Minions The Rise of Gru: 10/10
What can I say? It's no surprise that the Despicable Me franchise gets more sequels, even for it's prequels. I just love how executed that film is. It's so action-packed, hilarious, wild, entertaining, and filled with origins. The origins are that before Gru grows up to be the good guy, back then as a child he wants to be a bad guy so he can join the group of supervillains by stealing their stone that turns them into zodiac creatures. There's also some noticable secrets like Dr. Nefario appearing young, the bankteller also being young along with his son Vector, and even at the mid credits scene Gru and the minions joined Dr. Nefario as a callback to before the first movie starts. The animation has taken the franchise to a whole new level, the details are highly detailed, the movements are traditionally smooth, the designs look outstanding, and the action scenes for it is wonderful. Obviously my favorite characters are of course the Vicious 6, they are all unique and awesome in every way, they show how hatred they become when they betray one of their team members and when they try to get their hands on their zodiac stone and Gru. So with that means said, will there be more Despicable Me films in the future? Maybe, since Illumination has a thing with sequels, but I don't mind the franchise continuing to become relevant again.
The Minions are back for more wacky prequel adventures, but this time with Gru, together they made this film despicable.

Number 4 Best.....Sonic the Hedgehog 2: 10/10
Wow, I can't believe that they have made a sequel to one of the greatest video game movies there is! This sequel sets to take place after the first where Knuckles teams up with Robotnik so they can go after the Master Emerald while Sonic and his new pal Tails are heading forth towards it too. The action scenes are amazingly intense, the character development is smart, the dialogue is written, the characters themselves are masterful, the soundtrack slaps, the CGI rocks, and the execution is the best. It barely has any filler in it at all, it tries to mostly focus on the moments with the Donut Lord and the bigger moments with Sonic. Speaking of which, the message of being a hero for someone and not yourself is pretty therapeutic, it shows the audience that it's okay to be a legend of the history of Earth, but be warning though that you actually have to do something for someone you loved and cared, not just yourself. Without a doubt, the most phenomenal thing about the movie is the final battle. Holy crap, they have brought back the Death Egg Robot from the original sequel game! The climax of it is best described to be very cinematic, especially when Sonic turned Super Sonic. So yeah, this sequel is amazing, and I am even more hyped for the third film.
Sonic is back with his new friends, when they join forces the sky's the limit!

Number 3 Best.....Guillermo del Toro Pinocchio: 10/10
This has got to be the darkest, very well-written, and beautiful adaptation I have ever seen. This film has been in development for years, and it finally has been made as a Netflix film. Gladly this film plays exactly like from the original, but not what you expected from the Disney classic you grew up on. This one however is pure stop-motion with very exciting action scenes that make the story feel dark and engaging. Not to mention that the characters are the best of the movie, which is a huge variety of character development. They're mature, serious, and reasonable. Guillermo del Toro himself has made terrifying books, but does make some films that are successful from the great critical score like The Shape of Water. Comparing this film to what Laika makes, they actually both look no different, they both share the same stop-motion animation with stunning stories. If there are darker versions of the classic fairy tale stories, then that would be awesome...but not too dark though.
From the straight to DVD one to the Disney remake, this one has made me wish upon the star, or in Mr. Toro's case wish upon the roaming spirits.

Number 2 Best.....Avatar The Way of Water: 10/10
If I were to pick which one that goes to the second place, Avatar 2 or Toro Pinocchio, I'd go with Avatar 2 for a reason. For Toro Pinocchio, that film is pure written with a stunning stop-motion visual. As for Avatar 2, this one is a jaw drop when I see this in theaters. Not to mention that it is a long-waited sequel to a phenomenal 2009 film. The story is very intense with a new variety of exploration and learning something new with the character development, the action scenes are a cinematic phenomenon, the CGI is gorgeous, the characters are seriously mature, and the soundtrack is just so beautiful. It also shows the fact that the other civilized Avatar being out there have their very own way of surviving. The ones that are dark blue with a lion tail are forest and the ones that are light blue with a tadpole tail are sea. The animals are cool too, they are so fast underwater thanks to them being hydrodynamic. The idea of having the Avatars use mechanic stuff is a big upgrade for them fighting, they grow smarter as they progress with the humans that don't attack the forest like what humans did last time. And lastly the execution shows that being strong-hearted is a good thing since you might lose some of your friends or part of your family, but you might as well get over it very quickly to become the bold part of the ending chapter of their story. Will there be another film soon? Maybe.
As beautiful as the first one, Jake Sulley continues on his life and the tribe to become bigger than ever.

And the Number One Best Film of 2022 is...Puss in Boots The Last Wish: 10/10
Really? How can an animated film be better than a three hour long blockbuster? Simple, it is the way of showing the audience of how good the original source materiel was. For Avatar 2, it took place after the first. As for Puss in Boots 2, it took place after the first of his spin-off film that is canon to the Shrek franchise. Man, it feels so good for DreamWorks to getting back into it's roots. The story is the best, it shows that you shouldn't be scared of dying and face your fear. The animation is the best, it redesigns the characters perfectly with a brand new render system where every time they move in action scenes, they become choppier for the world of the storybook adventure. The characters are the best, they deliver the best character development and the best way of experiencing with. The soundtrack is the best, it sounds so orchestrated beautifully. And finally the execution, this has got to be the best quest film ever made since the first Shrek film. I cannot believe that the future of DreamWorks is going to be brighter, and they have now made films that are bright for now. If there is going to be any more Shrek films, then be my guest. Also, another thing of what makes this film so special is the idea of the wishing star. In the journey, when a seperate character uses a map, the trial might as well changed into something else based on the character's identity, and that is what makes the animation top notch in the Puss in Boots movie distributed by Universal Pictures.
Puss in Boots is now in his last life, and he spend it well on facing his fear of death which makes him even more of a hero, and he continues on his journey as he revisits his old friends from a kingdom of Far Far Away, and that is why Puss in Boots The Last Wish is the number one best film of 2022.
