Description And before you ask about his size, no, Godzilla won't be THAT exaggeratedly big in the movie, he's that big in the poster for dramatic effect, like every other Godzilla movie poster ever made. Except GINO (TriStar's 1998 Zilla fuck up), that was false advertising, leading to a huge disappointment.

This poster has been officially released by Legendary.

I don't know, I don't think I'm entirely on board with just making him bigger and bigger for the sake of it.

I think you're about 6 months too late, because this was already discussed that this size exaggeration was just for dramatic effect, this isn't any different from previous posters.

That's not the point I was trying to make.Β  I meant making Godzilla bigger in every new movie or series. For example, Legendary's is the biggest yet.

It all depends on the size of the architecture around him, they need to make Godzilla bigger than the buildings. The reason the original Godzilla was 165ft back in '54Β was because Tokyo didn't buildings that were bigger than what we see today, the bigger the buildings got, so did Godzilla. Besides, this was Godzilla's comeback, and there are a lot of big buildings in San Francisco, so it only makes sense to make him in his biggest size ever - 355ft. The bigger, the better. (No dick joke intended)

The new poster bares a resemblance to Virus-91's drawing of Godzilla's back and the halo jumpers.

Wow!!!! The poster is fantastic, and the plates look rightly sized and interesting for this version of Godzilla. They don't look too big or small, and look rightly plentiful. The pose too just says "Godzilla" in the right way to me. I'm looking more and more forward to this movie by the day. It really looks like they're doing right by Godzilla this time.

I'd rather prefer the tail poster. THAT one looked way more mysterious than this one and was super-effective at giving off a sense of exaggerated scale. Plus, IΒ  confused about whether or not it was CG or an actual photo. This one, while I do think it's better than the other posters, isn't as good for me. I like how we get to see a clearer shot of Godzilla. I would like to see that as the final shot of the rumored trailer descriptions.

Man, San Francisco is getting the short end of the stick this year. First Godzilla trashes it, then Caesar and his merry band of damn dirty apes get a hold of it.

It's kind of the other way around, first the monkeys, then Axehead fromΒ "Pacific Rim", and now it's Godzilla. What's more surprising is that this isn't the first time San Francisco was pick for Godzilla to smash,Β in the other never-made American Godzilla movies, San Francisco was also the city of choice for Godzilla to attack, I'm not kidding, look - Β  godzilla.wikia.com/wiki/Godzil… (trivia #2).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JPRegal93 In reply to Awesomeness360 [2014-02-21 03:09:57 +0000 UTC]

Remember, though, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" comes out in July, so Caesar and company get their round two with the city by the bay.

Also, wow, I never knew about that Godzilla: King of the Monsters 3D. I can't decide if the design for it is better or worse than Zilla, it's like a really fugly tyrannosaurus with Godzilla spines slapped on.

Awesomeness360 In reply to JPRegal93 [2014-02-21 03:21:27 +0000 UTC]

At least the "Godzilla: King of the Monsters 3D" design some credit that at least it looks a lot like Godzilla, and the character acts like Godzilla. Oh, and check out "Godzilla vs. The Gryphon", it was the original script before TriStar fucked up royally - www.scifiscripts.com/scripts/G…, americankaiju.kaijuphile.com/a….

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JPRegal93 In reply to Awesomeness360 [2014-02-21 05:04:41 +0000 UTC]

Good point! It is much superior, then. I've read the Gryphon script, and I love Stan Winston's design. I just don't understand, it's like Tristar went "This great, but we just need to take everything good out of it and make it as shitty as possible. THEN it'll be perfect!"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Awesomeness360 In reply to JPRegal93 [2014-02-21 16:27:49 +0000 UTC]

1. Because TriStar is run by monkeys.

2. Because TriStar doesn't care about Godzilla, they admitted they were never interested in the character, why do you think they made fun of the Toho franchise? Because the source material is to them, they made the movie based on the simplest conceptΒ "giant lizard rampages city", which they don't realize that could be almost anything if you take out what Godzilla stands for, but beside that, they just don't give a shit about Godzilla, they made it very clear they are no fans of Godzilla. And you know what, I'm really happy TriStar is forbidden from ever laying their hands on the source material ever again, because if they're not going to show interest, then don't even bother.

Dude, this Godzilla design IS closer to the original, you can tell by this poster, and Legendary made it very clear the design will be based on the original Godzilla - fav.me/d73nzh2, fav.me/d71ywtz, fav.me/d6luc16. Legendary time after time promote themselves as "fans at heart", and seeing how this is very faithful to the source material, it shows.

Now all we need left is Godzilla's atomic breath. They said that it's going to be like that of nuclear explosions or something like that, to give a realistic tone to Godzilla.
