For #The-Saddle-Club 's contest Horses Of the World .Horse breed/species: Sable Island horses.
Location: Sable Island. A small island off Nova Scotia (Canada) in the Atlantic Ocean.
Cultural facts: Though some believe they were from shipwrecks, they were in fact put on the island. (see link below)
Why this kind of horse is important to you: the idea of these wild horses surviving on a harsh island free from human interference has always fascinated me.
