              And then I woke up, gasping. I clutched my heart. I sat in bed and scrambled to get myself back together until I realized I still just felt empty and cold. The aching hole in my chest returned once more. I looked around the dark room that I've lived in since as long as I could remember. I let out a shuddering sigh and got out of bed. What did I dream of?
I think I know.
             I glanced out at the window, seeking solace from the moon's glowing face but failing to see it. The moon hid behind the clouds. I don't blame it at all. All I could see was darkness littered with streetlights and all I could hear was the wind crashing into my house. Trails of Christmas lights lined every house and fence like fireflies frozen in time. I glanced at my clock. 2:54. Oh. My eyes were as heavy as my heart right about now. All I wanted was sleep, which apparently I couldn't have.
I guess I liked the night though. I felt so calm, yet so insane. My thoughts were like tidal waves. Just when I was on the edge of falling asleep, it'd hit me again and again. Relentless, heartless. Just battered and thrown overboard. Shipwrecked. My eyes burned at the very thought despite my attempts to stay strong. My mind was like a storm. I didn't even know what to do anymore. I can't stand this. I checked my phone, but you weren't there. Why did I even..?
               I was just shipwrecked. I let the waves throw me into the ocean. I let them steal my heart. I let them cast me out to sea and drag me down deep through the dark saltwater. I let them break me down and put me to sleep. Heartless.
