I haven't checked out the comic yet but how is Gwenpool any different from regular Deadpool?Β Spider-Gwen is a whole different character from Peter Parker so I am curious if the comic's writer has made DG any different.

I only know she's a comic book reader that somehow gets transported to the Marvel 616 universe, I assume with some power. She's not Gwen Stacy. Other than that, I have no idea...

She has no superpowers, she is just a huge Marvel fan girl. She defeated a Sentinel (old 90s era) because she recognized its fighting style was based on a Marvel video game. She just uses her knowledge of how Marvel works to her advantage.

I was shocked when Marvel decided to give her a shot due to some fan love and cosplayers (plus that issue sold out fast and very well that had the variant). Β To be honest I love that June Gwen Variants theme and the many different fun covers/artworks, styles, and different Gwens when they came out but figured it was just a fun theme variants only deal and nothing more would come from it but fun covers/artwork for me to enjoy.
There were a few different Gwens that had my interest on what possibly might be their story (Gwen Hulk, Wolverine Gwen, Doctor Gwen-age and a few others caught my eye and wonder) based on the artist's work and take on her from the picture. Β I did also enjoy the Gwenpool cover but to be honest their were a few other Gwens I enjoyed and wondered about more and would of had my curiosity a bit more if given a one shot "What If"Β comic series tale.
But reading the news about the team who would be making series I found that the artist art style and quality to be fantastic with the Gwenpool part of the Christmas special and the artist feels like a perfect choice as the main artist for her series and the writer during interviews seemed to have some very interesting and character developing ideas for "Gwen Poole" that also separated her characterization and story from Deadpool/Wade having me build some hope that with a good story and characterization this charater could be fun to read and follow.
I took a gamble and got her first issue of "The Unbelievable Gwenpool" that just came out. Β I enjoyed it and the character and how it mixes comedy and serous elements plus the consequences of her actions that hits her and others hard plus I thought the artist did a fantastic job. Β Impressed I'll be looking into the GwenPool #0 issue that just came out (which is the three short tales found in issues 1-3 of Howard the Duck plus her Christmas part of the recent Christmas Special that came out) plus I'll be pulling her 2nd and 3rd issue to see if the series and character remains strong and be a series and possible character that I can enjoy long term and become apart of my pull list.

It started off as a Gwen Stacy variant cover gag and turned into GP getting her own series. I'd compare her more to Harley Quinn really. And she's not actually Gwen Stacy. She's a normal human from the 'real world' that ended up in 616 New York. Her real name is... Gwen Poole.
