A study I did of a wolf in watercolours. Really the first time I've used water colours, but pretty pleased with the results. Need a lot more practice though :3Related content

Wow great! I can't believe this was your first try. Watercolours are so hard in my opinion. Did you use lots of layers and do different colours separately? i.e. Wet on dry?

Thanks! Watercolors are really tricky. I've painted with acrylics before so I had a little "painting" experience before I tried these studies. I did a really light beige wash first and then worked in the darker colors by multiple layers until I got to the black fur tips. I believe I worked mostly wet on wet first adding the different shades of the wolf. I should have let some of the layers dry longer before I added the next layer. I'm extremely impatient when it comes to watercolor painting
