Description 2,501 of this rare variant were produced that year to celebrate AMC's winning the trans-Am championship courtesy of Penske Racing and their legendary lead driver, Mark Donohue. (George Follmer was no slouch, either...) It features the Donohue designed ducktail spoiler for Trans-Am as well as a beefed up 360 CI engine and the highly desireable "Go Package" option.

You were at Tall Cedars?  We probably crossed paths ten times that day and didn't realize it.  I was there (I was with the Crosley that took the award for best antique pre-1950).  The SVO Mustang in the background of this shot?  The owners are in the same Mustang club as me (and I used to date their niece).

I liked it better when it still had these rims:

One of these days we need to actually need to say 'hi' to one another when we're at the same car show.

Never heard of the Javelin, but it got good lines. Approved.

Kind of surprised. It was one of AMC's 2 Muscle Cars in this era, kind of a "more refined" AMX with a rear seat. When they stopped making the AMX, they added the AMX tag to the Javelin.

While not as nice as say, a Camaro, Mustang, or Road Runner in some aspects, they have their following.
