[link] not the best sound quality but it is interesting to see the key fob acting as a cornering force indicator.

I noticed that after watching the video. Also the body roll was a lot more than even a modern SAAB Aero wagon in the corner.

All I know is it was being driven pretty well, and in an honest and spirited way.

The way the should be driven!!! Saab Areo Wagon will never be as beautiful or as costly as a 250GTO!!!

Well, the point is how much improvements the automobile has gone through over the past 5 decades- more reliable safer, but with fantastic performance as well.

Yes but nothing gets your pulse going or makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up quite like a Ferrari 250GTO does or any other 250 series street or race cars.

Peter Helm's California is a really nice and interesting car- and he sounds like a real hellraiser.

IIRC, the breadvan is being vintage raced now, there's some great footage of it on YouTube in-car at Mugello.

That, and the sky green one Moss drove. there are a few other unusual colors, I think Bamford's is an ex- David Piper car that's BP green like most of Piper's cars are.

Sure they did. Look up the Augie Pabst/Roger Penske GTO in period.

Every GTO I've ever seen in person has been red, and I think I saw a picture of a yellow one once. I always associate blue&white with Cobras

National colors until Chapman got mixed up with Gold Leaf ciggys.

Only Ferrari keeps their Rosso Corsa and Aston kept their special shade of green of late.

The Sauber Silver Arrows in Group C also come to mind in terms of the traditional national markings past 1968- maybe the Loti in Indycar.

I thought Chapman was British?
Jaguar races in BR green too.
It never would have occurred to me to pluralize Lotus to Loti

Take a look here at a 1967 Lotus F1 car:

Classic, Dad did a splendid watercolor of this car in period.

Now 1968:

Chapman was the first to go down the route of advertising with the Gold Leaf cigarettes in F1, and things haven't really been the same since.

Ah, I understand now. I thought it had to do with the Blue and white. Well, F1 seems to be mostly about money now.

Aya-Wavedancer In reply to 914four [2013-03-14 19:41:39 +0000 UTC]

Well yes- it does have to do with that. Pabst and Penske ran one similar, and NART used that blue and white stripe down the car for their Ferraris. The one belgian group also had yellow ferraris in period. Their name escapes me.

Penske blue was different though. I have a diecast of a Penske 'vette in blue and yellow. I wasn't aware of any American team racing 250GTOs though.
