i thought i'd have freya done by now but she'll come later. this is a redoll. i put over 120 hours into this and i'm proud.i love asymmetry and this doll is full of it

This artwork is absolutely astounding, however, I do have a question. What type of shading did you use? Looking closely at the picture, there are so many colors in the artwork, but only some are clean like you would find in a regular pixel sprite--only a pixeled sprite wouldn't have half as many colors. I don't know if it could be classified as true pixel art. I guess what I'm asking is what type of brushes did you use in the making of this piece? I'm sorry if I come out as really critical...I've just gotten a bit iffy about artwork being claimed as "pixel" artwork when it's really just a pixeled outline while using the regular, say, photoshop brush instead of the pencil/block brush to shade it.
Regardless, this piece is absolutely beautiful and regardless of the approach to have been used to make it, it is astounding : D

I made this in mspaint 2007. I used iaza.com to make it transparent. I am quite medieval when it comes to programs. You can look at the wip i posted in my scraps to see what it looked liked before i anti aliased most of my edges. Anti aliasing is a very tedious technique for me, which in finalizing the softness of the work took a good chunk of those 120 hours. i love the style but assure you i put each pixel in by hand with the line tool.

Oh dear..you used Anti-aliasing...that would be why o___o I'm not very familiar with that style/technique and probably the reason why I didn't consider it, mostly because I work with more game-sprites than decorative ones.
But wow!!!! That is absolutely fantastic!! And on paint! Haha, I used to use paint a lot before I got photoshop :'D Still use it. Paint has its own charm, really <3
But wow...that is just...You have really left me speechless. I can't even begin to imagine how much it would have taken (120 hours...wow), especially looking at all the different shades and tones you used in it! It's absolutely phenomenal!

I really enjoyed reading this series, and was completely in love with it every second I read it.
The only thing better than the Chobits manga, is this.
You perfectly caught her appearance, and the attention you payed to the hair, and clothing are amazing.
This is 100% my favorite pixel doll I have ever seen, and will be forever.

Chi showing up on the Daily Deviations is probably the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me on deviantART.
Anyways this is beautiful and I don`t know if it could be more amazing if it tried to be. The first thing I do notice and appreciate is the asymmetry. Asymmetry is eyecatching to me and here it was definitely worth the extra effort and time to go out of your way to do. Looks like you spent far more time on it then you said but honestly I know nothing about this kind of art, it`s far too daunting and I could never have the patience to make something amazing like this.

Thank you! My biggest concern about the asymmetry while making it was where your eyes were going to be pulled when you first look at her but I think I successfully made the point of interest her eyes so then you can get a feel for the whole doll's silhouette and then move down her dress.
this may also be me over analyzing a few pixels here and there lol

You're right again the color of her eyes made of them the first thing we look and this is why it seems symmetric first.

If it weren't at all, why even mentioning it on the front page ? You need to accept it has to be taken into account at least a little.
I got the bad luck to have it happening twice this week, (when I suggest it's forgotten and when it's someone else it's accepted ? which is why I took it personally).
Somehow I think the GM should have a set of refused-but-not-so-bad suggestions to give to their successor. Now I've gone through the painful lesson but I don't feel brave enough to take again all my DD suggestions and suggest them again to the new GM, and see them refused as I wait the following days and not see them, then suggest to the next GM etc.
