Okay, bad quality pic taken on my cell phone, but adorable, right?!
Okay. My niece is two. She is in that phase of her life when experiencing a movie is done by quantity. The more times you see a movie, the better. She drives my brother nuts.
She was on a Monsters, Inc. kick for TWO MONTHS. Then Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Chicken Little, Tangled, The Pagemaster...yeah. I'd been wanting to watch How to Train Your Dragon again, because I finally saw the cute Christmas short, Gift of the Night Fury (adorable, by the way...). I brought it over, and Melody watched it with us...and fell promptly in love.
It's her new favorite. She wants to watch Dragons! With Hiccup and Toothless!
I happened to be there for her first time, and she did this, I kid you not. It just...was so cute! It's her favorite scene. The one where Toothless and Hiccup color! (Because all forms of painting, drawing, or whatever, is coloring.) She started turning around in circles today, and I asked her, "Melody, what are you doing?"
"I'm coloring with Hiccup!"
Find someone who hasn't seen this movie. Preferrably a child around two-and-a-half. Then just watch their world change.

Does she know there's going to be a series on Cartoon Network this fall?
This is so cute! I first saw HTTYD at a special advanced screening with my school's animation club (then next week Kathi Alteri the lead production designer came to chat with us on the making of the movie) and basically for the whole movie I was five years old agian.

She doesn't retain information easily, but I'm sure if I tell her about it she will be excited for it. 
It's this fall? Really? It seemed so far away when they talked about it ambiguously...

It premeires in September. And I'm sure she will be super excited. Shame the series couldn't premier on Chinese New Year back in winter seeing as it's the year of the Dragon...Oh and next year I think the second movie comes out.

What a sweet story
I was 17 when I watched it for the first time and it changed my world

It makes it magical, somehow, though, when you see it in a little kid. She doesn't even understand the more intricate ideas, like prosthetic limbs or forced servitude...she just knows that A boy and a dragon are friends and they beat the big, mean dragon. That's all that matters.
