Description
In lieu of the upcoming film adaptation of "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline, I decided to draw characters from the book of the same name. This is my rendition of one of the members of "The High Five", Daito. Daito is a gunter from Japan, who along with his brother and partner, Shoto--both are named after Japanese swords (daito is Japanese for long sword; shoto is Japanese for short sword). When the two swords are worn together as a set, they are called 'daisho', which the two have become known as. Daito is considered the older brother and is more reserved and cold than Shoto. Honor is of utmost importance to Daito. I decided to base his look on Jin from "Samurai Champloo" (I'm planning to model Shoto after Mugen, as the Samurai Champloo characters are perfect parallels to 'Daisho'). His hat was inspired by none other than Raiden from the Mortal kombat series, but mostly because I think that Japanese samurais and bamboo hats just look cool. The Japanese characters on his chest says 'Daito' (or at least that's what Google tells me, please tell me the proper Japanese spelling so I can change it, if you know it). As for his pose... well...
