Description Today I was inspired to do a drawing.
Suddenly I remembered a scene from BoP #7 that I liked very much , in my opinion is one of the most touching scenes from the whole book
Hank Hall obviously wouldn´t enter the club and watch the male strippers showing their glories, but he bought Dawn a present for her B-Day. It´s a pitty he didn´t give it to her!

This is how I imagined her after she opened the present... she smelled the rose, and she´s trying not to drop tears after reading the card. "Thank you for never giving up on me"
What Hank wrote, really moved my heart

Nice piece... would've been nice if the arc had book ended with him actually leaving the present for her

Frankly I found the scene underwhelming cause it really did come off as a massive missed opportunity to show just how broke the Duo's bond is and the nagging feeling that they were purposefully Ixnaying on the hollyaying

I mean what makes more sense Emotionally...

Dawn sitting there on HER birthday three weeks after Blackest night having a pity party for poor Hank cause nobody loves him or gives him the chance only for the birds to get captured due to Dawn being a lightweight when it comes to alcohol and Hank ultimately proving she's a Naive nitwit for not even bothering to just wait for them to come out... or

Dawn does not want to be there, She is clearly uncomfortable and just wants the day over. Zinda comes up behind her when she's not paying attention, calls her 'sis' absent Mindly. Dawn whips around smile on her face... and just for a brief moment sees who she wants to see again, only to tear up when she sees its just Zinda. Dawn abruptly  ups and just leaves fighting back tears  with the birds thinking they've upset her with the whole strip club thing. Only she bumps into Hank outside whose just been waiting for them patiently. Hank sees shes upset and tries to be he's old jokey self "They didn't just traumatize you did they?' half hearted laugh. Only to realize she's staring at him and He knows their not on a Gotham street right now. She's back at the GeorgeTown library and He isn't the current him in her eyes.

"Just get away from me!" as She breaks into full tears and rushes away from him... Hank stands there for a moment knowing nothing he can say can make it right.

"I'm sorry Dawn"
chunks her present in the trash
"I really am"
