Description Yue is the princess of the Northern Watertribe, a huge city made from Ice, which has managed to repel the attacks by the Fire Nation so far. When Yue was born, her parents couldn't get her to make a sound. They prayed to the ocean and moon spirits for days before placing her in the spring where the spirits resided in the form of carps. The moon spirit gave her life, and her hair turned white. It is unclear whether Yue possessed bending abilities, as women in the north were only trained as healers, not benders - something that infuriates Katara upon her arrival. Despite being engaged at the time, Yue seems to develop feelings for Katara's brother Sokka, despite knowing they can't be together. The Fire Nation attacks, determined to catch the Avatar and to crush the Water Tribe. Aang starts meditating at the spring to find a way to stop the invaders while Katara watches over him as Yue and Sokka take care of the city's defences. Zuko arrives and duels Katara, knocking her unconscious and running away with Aang in a desperate attempt to restore his honour in the eyes of his father. Yue and Sokka find Katara, and manage to retrieve Aang, who has been told to use the power of the ocean. Meanwhile, troops led by General Zhao and Zuko's uncle, General Iroh, have infiltrated the sanctuary. Zhao plans to kill the moon spirit to weaken the Water Tribe. Iroh tells him to stop, as this would unbalance the world, but Zhao refuses to listen. The moon turns red as the spirit dies, and Iroh, enraged, drives out his own forces. Aang and the raging ocean spirit join forces and begin to purge the city while Yue is certain all is lost. Iroh notices she has been annointed by the moon spirit and suggests she give back the life it gave her. Sokka tries to stop her, as Iroh is of the Fire Nation, but Yue agrees this is the only way, and that she was born for this purpose. She places herself in the water and gives up her life, her hair turning brown...
