Pistol looks alright to me. Claire's main handgun in the remake is a "hammerless" self defense revolver, which allow for easier concealment.

Yeah, especially since Revolvers are pretty well just "Romantic" weapons compared to more modern semi automatic pistols.
Changing a design that's been traditional for ages to make it sleeker and more modern just seems a bit jarring, yeah?

Oh i don't know about that, i just look at the practical usability. Revolvers have their advantages even today and certainly are most efficient when they can be cocked at will.

They might hold some romanticism even today but i would Five seven, Sig sauer or even a Glock with a large clip anyday before them.

I'm definitely more of a romantic when it comes to firearms, so this might seem odd and even "wrong" by a few standards in that I tend to look for and appreciate the aesthetic value and history of firearms over usability and efficiency. (As I don't hunt or shoot for competitions.)
Guns like revolvers, break action loaders, and even lever action weapons to an extent appeal to me because you have to chamber each shell yourself.
But don't get me wrong, modern magazine loading handguns can be pretty damn sexy too. I've always had a bit of a love affair with the vz61, and M92FS for their appearances as law enforcement and military sidearms.
