I'm often draw without references. Just for fun, but I'm thinking that it'll can teach you to draw more accurate and better. If you'll watch the video, you can see how much the art passed to became final version. When I don't have a clear idea, I'm usually rewatching my art and find a lot of mistakes and thing I want to correct. I think that this is a good practice, when you're doing your task more difficult, don't have a clear idea about what are you will draw now and force your skills to work on it's maximum to make from rough sketch something worthwhile.
