Yes, it's true, black and white may seem easier but it's not, it takes a lot more time to get all the different shadings of grey/black/white... personnally, I find b&w portraits more difficult to do!!

and that's primarily why I was so afraid of starting with color. I was working on a girl in a hat with a veil and draped dress.in charcoal.... what a pain! and this was so easy(I think the fact that half her face is covered made it even easier))))

Charcoal can be really messy.. but it gives wonderful effects. But it's easier with pastels, I think.
