Description
“Stars… They’re… they’re really bright. They are beautiful. Like… the sparks. White sparks. But the sparks die away instantly, and the stars… They keep on shining. Before now, when we used to live on the Surface, monsters would whisper their dearest wishes to the stars".
“You, too?” – suddenly Sans asked from the corner of the room.
“Yeah”, – Gaster nodded without turning at him. – “And the stars would glimmer in the sky and listen to me…”.
“What is the sky?” – Papyrus asked. – “I can hardly remember what it’s like”.
“The sky? It’s…” – Gaster paused. He knew that his brother didn’t need the “scientific” answer. – “Well, you see, it’s just an absence of ceiling. When there is no ceiling”.
“How come – at all?”
“Yeah. Dark infinity… With millions of stars in it”.
Papyrus gave a long sigh, having sank back against the pillows, and stared at the ceiling – as if it really wasn’t there.
“This is… fantastic, Gaster. You know, I feel envy. You remember all that… You’re happy”.
The elder brother smiled sadly. “If only nothing but the stars associated with the Surface to me…” © TarNalloBorn’s “Yes, it was an experiment” (AU Underlab)
