Description

Uzumaki Naruto and Alice Parker, off on their first 'official' date, enjoy some dancing at an underground dance club outside of Konoha. Despite being nervous and a little uneasy about being in front of so many people, Naruto is slowly growing bolder and enjoying himself with Alice as they dance into the night. (circa 2567/2568)

So there's going to be a little context for this scene, as I didn't want to do a full fledge script for this one like I've done for a lot of the other commissions on here. The reason I didn't want to was A) we're no where near this point in the story, and B) the scene/arc that's being depicted would require a lot of script and, likely, several pictures to properly explain the whole scene/arc. And since it would be sometime before all of these pictures are done, I thought it would simply be smarter to do this instead while I write the fanfic and slowly catch it up to the commission pics.

Now, on to explaining the commission:
This is set a few months (2-4) after the chunnin exams and Alice's confession (And the 'ecchi' photo Alice sent to Naruto) in this story, where the two in question are 17/18. Alice, now in direct competition with Sakura and Hinata, has been stepping up her game to win over Naruto (Much to the irritation of the other two and a certain surrogate father), trying to spend as much time with him as possible and win him over.

To basically sum this pic up without going into an absurd amount of detail and backlore, Alice learns of an underground nightclub (ie illegal, because Konoha has outlawed nightclubs and dance clubs in their province with Fire Country due primarily to security concerns regarding their ninja village) nearby that's going to be playing and convinces Naruto to go with her there on what is more or less an official date between the two. Obviously, given that what they're doing is illegal and could land the both of them in trouble with Konoha (nothing too harsh, as they are just out dancing, but Konoha could still punish them with, for example, several dozen D & E-ranked Missions without pay while also paying a fine.), they lie to Barnes (who reluctantly gives his consent to let Naruto take Alice on a date) that they're just going to have dinner and see a movie, then sneak off out of Konoha and head to the nearby dance club where they proceed to dance and enjoy themselves. (Unbeknownst to them, several of their friends; Ino, Shikamaru, a couple of Ino's friends, Temari, and Kiba; are also there, disguised in henges to keep any ANBU from busting them, and see the blonde couple out at the nightclub.)

There's other shenanigans that happen in this event; such as Temari attempting to pick up Shikamaru, only for Ino to cockblock her out of jealousy; Ino and Shikamaru having a rather risqué (and drunk) moment afterward; Temari meeting a dejected Kiba who is bummed out because A) Hinata (who Kiba secretly has a crush on) only has eyes for Naruto, and B) just found out his date for tonight just bailed on him, and this leads to Temari and Kiba having hookup sex; and lastly Ino, who realizes Naruto is there with Alice, drunkenly attempts sends a video to Sakura, who didn't go, warning her of Naruto and Alice, films herself and the other two, and successfully sends the footage... to her mother, Nozomi, whose with the Hokage at that moment, which leads to ANBU busting the party and Naruto carrying Alice out bridal style as they flee the scene. (Successfully, but they've unknowingly already been ID, so they're kinda screwed.) Despite the panicky end to the dance, Naruto ends up thoroughly enjoying himself, and seeing that they still have time before they have to come back to the condo Barnes and Alice are staying at, decide to go to the movie they were claiming to go see in order to throw off any claims that they were at the nightclub and to enjoy a little more time together before they have to go back. (Which ends up with its own comedic/ecchi shenanigan for the two but that's another story.)

This whole event is meant to help solidify Naruto's growing feelings for Alice and help him realize that he actually enjoys being with Alice, despite her quirks, goofy/teasing/flirty nature, and all the shenanigans that entails, and begins to realize that, like Sakura, he does have some significant romantic feelings for Alice. And speaking of Sakura, this is the event that more or less has the two young women being solidified as Naruto's two main love interests and rivals for his affection. (Sadly, Hinata's fighting a losing battle in this story, as Naruto simply doesn't feel the same way she does, and that will be addressed, too. For all the NaruHina fans, sorry in advance, but this isn't going to be a bashing story, I promise. I personally hate stories that just bash a certain character just because the author doesn't like them.)

I want to thank PumiiH again for doing another fantastic commission for me. Her artwork is among my favorites and I always love working with her to help bring my story to life with these commissions. There will be some more from her in the future, but it won't be for several months. But there are other artists I'm working with to help keep the artwork coming at a consistent rate. (Not too often though, as I am not made of money unfortunately.)

One last thing before I stop texting here, I had this interesting idea while I was creating this scene in my head and wanted to share it with you and hear your thoughts. So, as it's stated below, this fanfic is set in a crossover universe between Halo and Naruto, with a much stronger emphasis on Halo in the prologue series as it's not quite as based on Shinsei and more explores the greater galaxy within this universe and what's going on, and then it shifts more to a Naruto focus in the Fire Within story, which follows Naruto as he becomes a ninja. But going back to the Halo-side of the story, I had an interesting idea. Halo is set roughly 500-550 years into the future from today, where technology, science, and human culture have continued to progress over the centuries. So on the culture side, I had an intriguing thought? Would dance clubs and night clubs of the Haloverse have something like 'retro-night' or 'retro-hour,' where the DJ or music playlist or whatever/whoever is playing the music goes and decide to play some older or even ancient music in a sort of throwback hits montage? Similar to how lots of night clubs and dance clubs of today will still play songs from the 1960s, 70s, or 80s because they're still popular? Would something similar happen in the universe of Halo, where some DJ or band rediscovers a song or band from hundreds of years ago, likes their songs and music, and decides to either emulate them or reintroduce their songs to a 'modern' audience? The idea played in my head for a while and I couldn't help but sit there and wonder about it, because A) it's a cool and interesting concept to think about, especially in a setting such as Halo where most of the focus is on combat, and B) because it gives me a clever albeit cheesy excuse to use music from today's time in the story if needed.
Even though it does nothing to the overall plot of Halo, it was still something interesting to picture and think about, as Halo tends to gloss over the more cultural aspects of its universe. (I mean that makes sense, it is a series of first person shooter games and its kind of hard to describe things like music in novels.) So given that this was supposed to be a dance scene, I started picturing this idea that the nightclub that Naruto and Alice had gone to were having a 'Retro-hour' or something of the like and were playing popular songs from like the 2000s-2020s, with two songs in my head popping up for when Alice and Naruto were dancing. 'Blinding Lights' by The Weeknd and 'Shut Up and Dance' by WALK THE MOON. Though there's plenty of examples that would likely work, for me these two songs worked great for the setting and I loved picturing Alice and Naruto dancing to these two songs in particular. (Maybe some Daft Punk, particularly from their 'Alive: 2007' Album.)

Anyway that was just a neat thought I had, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and on the commission. Hope you enjoyed it! -Azores
