Description An alternate South America in which Brazil collapsed in 1837 during the first years of the Regencial Period, creating a power vacuum in the region which allowed both local and foreign powers to completely change the face of Latin America during the second half of the 19th century, leading among other things, to a divided Argentina and a more powerful Bolivian state in the 21st century.

Do most of the former Brazilian states still speak Portuguese? Who is the dominant power in South America?

Indeed they still speak it. In fact that's what the map explains on its title Now, about the dominant power in South America, the fact is that there's no single great power in the region at all! The most powerful nations in the continent are Bolivia, Colombia, São Paulo and Rio de la Plata in that order, at least in terms of economic influence and military power. This is a "multipolar" South America, so the things in this continent are way more competitive, thus the nations have both stronger ties (like Cisplatina, Uruguay and Entre Rios), and greater rivalries (like Colombia and Peru), so this is a pretty dynamic and fairly prosperous continent
