At the time, yes, but now he's a rebellious teenager. I wonder if he still has the drawing.

Exactly!
I could have been on the cover of Fortune.
I could have been David Fucking Hockney.
I could have been Jean-Michel Fucking Basquiat. God knows I did more coke in my long life than he did in his.
I've got 50 years of unrealzed alternate realities that I hope my son will sell to the highest bidder after my tragic demise.

You make me want to blush and cry.
I'm no angel, thank God. How's that for irony?
Would you mind if I sent you some paintings for Easter? You'd be doing me a favor.

Oh, and regarding Hockney...I saw the film A Bigger Splash in the 80s, about Hockneys stay in California, his paper pools and his young lover. I also saw the film Basquiat. I'd never heard of either one before seeing those movies. I suppose Hollywood had a hand in overvaluating their work. Art as investment has skewed everything. If I had a career, I might paint big oils, in order to reward the buyer. My paper creations, framed, matted and under glass can be quite impressive, but not really worthy of a high price.

I'll tell you about two fiends. JAG Sánchez was selling his art on the street, until someone offered him a commission to do a mural in a hospital. With tha money he made on the mural, he bought a car and a house, but he continues to sell on the street without inflating his prices. Saúl Zariñsn also sold on the street, but switced to the internet, inflated his prices, and has had little success since. You will notice that JAG does wonderful abstracts, while Saúl is more into psychological themes.

You say such nice things. I appreciate your comments about my art. You're right, I should/could use more durable materials, but, like you, I'm not a rich guy and the materials aren't in my neck of the woods. And I suppose it's a point of pride being able to create intersting art using the most ordinary of materials. You have my permission to post any of my work on your site. Just send me a link if you do.
I totally understand your wanting to reciprocate for the Christmas package, Again, sending anything to México is almost begging for it to be stolen. With this current situation, I don't even know if I'll be able to go to Arizona this fall. Again, resist that urge for now. It's the thought that counts.
Scalerandi's lion is incredibly sexy, for a cartoon. Where did you find him, or did he find you?

Something that I like about dA is that my art always looks better on the site than in real life. 20 years ago I used more expensive and exotic materials, lots of 3D and sculpture, but when I moved to México, I had to scale down. I've never had the room to do big or 3D creations, not for the lack of desire.
