For a long time the two sisters were emotionally distant, Celestia resenting her sister for the death of her parents and Luna feeling alone and shut off from any sort of attachment to the world. Luna felt the happiest alone in the dark, where everyone is asleep and she could think clearly. Celestia loved the day, where she could keep herself busy. They barely saw eachother outside of a few hours in the day. But they were both too tired to ever talk to eachother.
Celestia had begun to study the art of moving the sun and moon from her unicorn mentors, one of the most energy draining magics that only the noble unicorns knew how. She was a little obsessed in her studies and during her first day of trying to raise the sun for a new day. She gained her cutie mark. A cutie mark for the talent of raising the sun, something no unicorn had seen before.

If it was even possible, they became even more distant, with Luna growing to dislike her sister for always raising the sun. A seed of resentment was planted and Luna started to study how to set the sun in her own way of opposing her sister.

//I really want to delve deeper on why luna became nightmare moon. so im taking inspiration from the episode "The Royal Problem" from season 7!
