Somehow, everytime I'm actually supposed to do something.... I end up doing something else instead. Bad habit that I can't seem to shake...Plus, I have to draw Sokka, Katara, Aang, and Toph... and I really don't feel like doing that!! But I will.... It shall be done!
..................eventually. ...yarr, that'd be a small personal, incomprehensible 'lil rant there...
Anyways...
The lovely blue fire shaping Azula's name was made by (So go pay him a visit too!!) The rest is made by me.

I'm disappointed. Β You should know better than to entertain those girly titles! Β Azula called herself Fire Lord in the show -- so did everyone else -- and she would be a master, not a mistress. Β I feel like I'm reiterating everything you already know because come on, Azu, you did know this.

Sure, the title with power behind it is Fire Lord. Same with kings and queens in our world. The king has the power, the queen is the obedient and supportive spouse who gives birth to little princes meant to be kings (if you put it crudely). But I kinda like the idea of Azula changing all of that. She'd be called Queen, but she'd be King, and people would learn that a title is only a title. It's the person behind the title that matters.

Then again, I much prefer the title Fire Lord. It sounds cooler than Fire Lady. But that's me being colored by society telling us men are more powerful than women.

But I'm the Azula who's gonna change that at my workplace, though. Out of fifty employees in my department, only two of us are female. And I'm the one in power. I'm the one telling all the men what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. But it's a struggle sometimes, because not all men like being told what to do by a woman, especially one half as old as them. But I enjoy the challenge. As would Azula, I'm sure. Only she probably wouldn't have put up with half the crap I get without literally blowing someone's head off. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to do that

So yeah, I know she's the Fire Lord, but.... to me it doesn't really matter what title she has. As long as she's in power and lets the world know about it.

Nah, I don't agree that she would be called Queen. Β Even in the newly released comics, it was revealed that she used to reenact the play "Love Amongst the Dragons" with Zuko, taking the role of Dragon Emperor while he played the part of the Dark Water Spirit. Β She boasted that she made a better Dragon Emperor. Β Although it was within her power to feminize the title, along with Fire Lord, she didn't. Β That's two traditionally masculine titles (Fire Lord, Dragon Emperor) to one (Princess). Β She appears to have a perchance for masculine titles. Β It's part of her character, and I do think it makes a statement about her. Β I don't think that statement should be amended. Β She'd make a fine King and would likely revel in the distinction as with the other masculine titles she's claimed. Β Part of her appeal for many of us is her unapologetic debunking of gender roles, including her adoption of titles otherwise reserved for men.
As far as preference re: Fire Lord vs. Fire Lady, Fire Lord is the title Azula chose to call herself. Β If there's a deeper meaning to your preference, fair enough, but as far as the character herself is concerned, that's what she wants to be called, and it should be respected instead of changed because some people decided they weren't comfortable with it. Β This still happens, long after the finale's premiere, by people who claim to've watched the entire show and somehow missed all the times Azula and the other characters used "Fire Lord".
Congratulations on your ascendancy over the other employees, particularly for the fact that most are men twice your age. Β That's very impressive and should never be taken away from you. Β It speaks to great success, and you're entitled to be proud of your achievements.

I don't think it's the title that appeals to Azula so much as the power behind it. She wants to be in power, therefore she wants the title that holds the most power. Perfectly natural for someone like her. And I think I might've said it wrong, because I don't mean she should be called Fire Lady (or Queen) and make it more powerful than Fire Lord; I mean that Azula could change the idea that a man should be in power. She'd make the title Fire Lord lose its gender and simply make it a title. For the person with the most power, be they male or female.
About people calling Azula Fire Lady... You seem to forget that there are a lot of little princesses out there, who like Azula ('cause she's badass epic awesome), but who are stuck in the illusion that a woman can't have a man's title, or do a man's job. Therefore, Azula is a Lady to them, because they can't fathom the idea that a girl might not want to be a little princess, but a King, or, in this case, Lord. I never wanted to be a princess when I was a kid. I wanted to be a knight. And kick some ass
There's a fun story in Denmark, about the royal succession. In 1953 they changed the law that said that only male offspring could inherit the throne. This because the prince who was first in line to inherit the throne was considered a little.... let's say, inept. So they changed the law to allow for a princess to inherit the throne. In a way, that's what Ozai did. Zuko was inept, so Ozai got rid of him to ensure that Azula would one day become Fire Lord.
I haven't read the new comics. I'm dead scared of how they're portraying Azula. I'm assuming you have read them and approve of them? Meaning that I can read them without getting pissed off at how they're treating her?

Fire Lord is, apparently, a unisex title. But yes, Ruler of All is much more fitting to Azula's... I don't know what to call it, since words like "epicness" or "amazingness" don't even come close to doing all that she is justice...
